'Whenever I come to the National Theatre − as an actor or as an audience member − I know I will be part of something special. Without fail there is something to inspire, challenge and entertain me.'  Helen Mirren, actor

The National Theatre is dedicated to making the very best theatre and sharing it with as many people as possible. With up to 30 productions each year on the South Bank, in addition to transfers and tours across the UK and internationally, the National Theatre aims to provide a diverse programme ranging from re-imagined classics – such as Greek tragedy and Shakespeare – to modern masterpieces and new work by contemporary writers and theatre-makers. The work we make strives to give voice to the widest range of human experience.

A donation to this area of our work would help to support every element that goes into creating the world-class productions you see on our stages:

  • The writers and directors who create vision for the range of productions developed at the NT
  • The designers and technicians who create our extraordinary sets here at the NT’s on-site backstage workshops
  • The technical teams who bring the productions to our stages
  • The world-class actors and musicians who bring extraordinary plays to life across all of our stages
