A ten-week course which will give an insight into approaches to begin playwriting led by playwright Shenagh Cameron. This course will focus on techniques, exercises and approaches to writing, with opportunities for discussion and shared group critiques.
Shenagh Cameron was born in London and is of Trinidadian/Scottish heritage. She won the Alfred Fagon Award for her first play ‘A Pocket in The Sky’ which was also shortlisted for the Verity Bargate Award. She then became writer in residence for the Tricycle Theatre where she founded the Bloomberg Writers Group. She has had plays performed on BBC Radio 4, the Latitude Festival, Tricycle Theatre and the Royal Court. She has been a writer on attachment for The National Theatre Studio and has been selected to participate on BBC and ITV schemes. Shenagh acted as dramaturg on two playWROUGHT festivals at the Arcola Theatre. She has taught playwriting at Bath Spa University and Performing Arts at Lewisham College and Westminster Kingsway College.
