Space to Create 2024

For 18 – 25 year olds

We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in moving, performing, writing or have another creative-skill.

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with artists and facilitators in response to a National Theatre show, The Hot Wing King. This year, the week will be led by theatre-makers Benjamin Salmon and Olivia Douglass.

You’ll spend the week exploring and creating – the week is all about getting stuck into theatre-making and the process of this, with the aim of informally sharing some performance at the end of the week.

No prior theatre experience is necessary, just a sense of curiosity and creativity!

This year, we’re particularly keen to hear from people who are interested in queer theatre-making.

A group of five young adults sit on the floor in a cozy circle, engaging in a lively and friendly discussion. The background features chairs and tables in a bright, spacious room with light wooden flooring.

Recruitment

We are furthering our commitment to diversity and access by concentrating recruitment in three areas that we recognise have been most affected by the events of the last few years:

  • young people from the global majority;
  • young people from working-class backgrounds;
  • and d/Deaf, neurodivergent and disabled young people.

This opportunity takes place at the National Theatre on the South Bank in London, and therefore we aim to offer and prioritise places to those based in London, or who can travel to London easily and safely within the workshop day. This project is free to take part in and access support and travel bursaries are available to those in the Greater London area.
