National Theatre Young Technicians

Applications have now closed for this course. Please contact the youth team with any questions. Young Technicians will be recruiting from May 2020 for next year’s cohort.

Sign up for National Theatre Young Technicians. Starting in October 2019

Are you interested in lighting, sound, video and automation? Are you aged between 14–18? Then our technical theatre workshops could be for you! The National Theatre Young Technicians programme offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and learn all about a variety of backstage and off-stage roles from top industry professionals.

National Theatre Young Technicians will run on Wednesday evenings between October 2019 and March 2020 and will introduce you to the basics of technical theatre including lighting, stage, sound and video. In the Easter and Summer holidays participants will then have the opportunity to shadow professionals and provide technical support to the National theatre youth programme.

Workshop Dates:

Wednesday evenings 5-8pm

Term 1:
2, 9, 16, 30 October
6, 3, 13, 20, 27 November
4, 11 December

Term 2:
8, 15, 22, 29 January
5, 12, 26 February
4, 11, 18, 25 March

In addition to these dates you will also watch three different National Theatre productions.

The National Theatre is committed to diversity and ensuring that all who come here feel welcome and included.  We actively encourage applications from young people of colour and young women as we recognise these groups are currently under-represented in the field of technical theatre.

This is a FREE opportunity. To apply please complete this application form before Wednesday 11 September 2019.

This is a free course. We would never want financial barriers to prevent anyone from taking part and so travel bursaries are available. If you would like to apply for one, please indicate this on the form when you apply.
