NT : Gift Aid and Tax Effective Giving
Gift Aid
Gift AidGift Aid allows charities to reclaim the tax from the Inland Revenue that they would otherwise have to pay on all donations they receive. This means that if you are a Priority member or above and you make a Gift Aid declaration the National Theatre is able to claim an additional 25 pence on every pound that you have donated to us for the past six years. Additionally, higher rate income tax payers can claim tax relief on all donations against both income Tax and/or capital gains tax on the difference between the higher (40%) and basic rate (22%) of tax.
In order to be eligible for Gift Aid you must pay an amount of UK income and / or capital gains tax equal to or more than that amount of tax the National Theatre would reclaim on your donations in one tax year.
If you are not an existing member and would like to join the National Theatre's supporters scheme go to Supporters and select the membership level at which you would like to join.
If you are an existing supporter of the National Theatre and would like to make a Gift Aid declaration you have three ways to do this:
1. If you are planning to make a donation as part of a ticket or membership purchase (gift aid is applicable to Priority Membership and above) then simply check the Gift Aid box as part of the ticket buying process.
If you have made donations since 2000 or have joined or renewed memberhip payments at Priority level or above you can:
2. Fill in your details in the form on Gift Aid Declaration Forms page, tick the 'giftaid it' box, submit your form and you will instantly have increased the value of your donations by 28%.
3. Alternatively, you can download the Gift Aid declaration form at the bottom of the Gift Aid Declaration Forms page, fill it in and return it to us at the address provided.
