Synopsis:

Redgrave reads eleven passages from De Profundis selected and edited by Wilde’s grandson Merlin Holland, who introduces the performance with an audio essay. Produced by Roger Elsgood at l’ocean creative projects for Penumbra Productions and Falling Leaves. Music was specially composed by Jonathan Goldstein, performed by Yoo Hong Lee and recorded at St Nicholas Church, Deptford. Oscholar’s on-line reviewer says “Redgrave gets clear away from the ordinary conventions of reading aloud: we appear to be in Wilde's head as he composes his letter to Douglas. For this monologue intérieur, sometimes quizzical, sometimes forthright, sometimes self-aborbed, Redgrave adopts an Irish accent of considerable mellifluousness…riveting to listen to… a notable addition to any Wilde collection.”
